Kajol came to films with the huge legacy of having every previous member of her family from films--grand mother Shobana Samarth, mother Tanuja, aunty Nutan, cousins Mohnish Behl, Rani Mukherjee and even almost all the male members of the father too were into films, Joy Mukherjee, Deb Mukherjee and you name them and they were into films. Her mother Tanuja, was known to be a firebrand in her time and Kajol too has come to be known as a firebrand who did whatever she wanted to do and said whatever came to her mind. Slated to be the No.1 actress of the present times, she shattered many a heart of her fans and also of many producers by getting married to Ajay Devgan and deciding to go slow with films.
Que: You almost vanished from the face of films for nearly a year. How was it? Ans: I needed the break from work. I needed the time with m husband. I needed to think about my future work and the type of films that I wanted to do. So, I took the break and had great fun.
Que: Has marriage changed you?
Ans: No. I haven't changed at all. I am still as independent as ever. I like to have the protective mantle of marriage around me. It has brought me lot of respectability. I have become Bhabhi from Didi!
Que: How come you have suddenly got two double role films (Dushman and Kuch Kathi, kuch meethi)? Do you find them fun to do?
Ans: Doing double roles are always more challenging. An actor has to put in more effort to understand and act the role differently. It leaves me more experienced and also I can exhibit my acting skills to the hilt. .
Que: How come you have never thought of doing parallel cinema with the likes of Shyam Benegal and Govind Nihalani? Aren't you interested in these films?
Ans: I don't think the projects which I have been doing as a commercial actress is less than any films. And frankly speaking I haven't seen much of these people's work. Also I am romantic at heart and so I would prefer to do films, which interest me rather than bore me. Besides none of these directors have ever approached me with an offer. .
Que: So, what sort of films will interest you today?
Ans: The films have to follow their own path. I should be able to fit into the role completely. I don't want to do all the work in the film. I want a director who has done all his work and tells me exactly what he expects me to do in the film. And of course the subject has to interest me! Que: How different was it working in you home production in the film Raju Chacha?
Ans: IT is always nice to know that you are among your own people. Of course I am comfortable on Yash uncle's (Yash Chopra's) set. But on a home production I know it is my unit and my people.
Que: What is the role you play in Devgan Entertainment Ltd?
Ans: I have my own role. I have my own area where I work.
Que: Apart from films, what are the other plans of Devgan Entertainment
